Development of Innovative “Waste-to-Value” Technologies for Sustainable Recycling of Rare Earth Elements and High-Value Recycling of Magnets

We are pleased to announce the launch of the RecovREE project, which focuses on the development of innovative waste-to-value technologies for the sustainable recycling of rare earth elements (REEs) and the production of high-value Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets.

The project aims to establish sustainable and efficient recycling routes that enable the conversion of rare-earth-containing waste into high-performance magnetic materials. The research activities will address the entire value chain, from high-efficiency sorting and extraction of rare earth elements, through the production of high-purity metallic precursors, to the development of next-generation Nd-Fe-B magnets for e-mobility applications.

The project runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 May 2029.

The total value of the project is EUR 8,069,708.00, with EUR 4,999,305.75 provided through public co-financing.

The project has been selected for funding under the public call “Promoting the Implementation of Research and Development Programmes (TRL 3–6)” (JR RR PROGRAMI (TRL 3–6)).

The operation is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by the Budget of the Republic of Slovenia.
